Imagery in the rehabilitation of those with Stroke:

 

•Has the potential to increase gait speed by 23% and reduce double-support time by 13% after 6 weeks of intervention & may improve LE ROM (Dickstein, Kumar)

 

•MI combined with conventional therapy:

–Promotes relearning tasks and transferring improvements to new environments

–Improves quality & ROM of the paretic arm by increasing its functionality & use in ADL’s

–Improves spatio-temporal gait parameters

–Reduces fear of falling (Carrasco)

 

•May improve arm function during the Action Research Arm Test (Zimmermann-Schlatter)
